About Pitreavie Playgroup

  • Morning and afternoon 2 1/2 hour sessions are available on a fairly flexible bases for children from the age of 2 1/2
  • There is a fee per session. Five free sessions are allocated the term after a child’s third birthday as we are registered to provide funded places the term after a child’s third birthday.
  • Children do not have to be toilet trained.
  • Parents are welcome to take part and stay at sessions.
  • The Playgroup is a voluntary charitable organisation managed by parents and Playleaders as a team.
  • Based in bungalow – slide room, craft room, snack room
  • Secure garden

Activities and learning

There are a wide range of activities and learning opportunities available:

  • Books – story time, circle time, library
  • Role play – home area, dressing up, dolls
  • ICT toys, computer
  • Construction – Duplo, mega blocks, popoids, building bricks, unit blocks
  • Small World – cars, trains, dolls house, animals
  • Creative & messy play – painting, gluing, sand, water and playdoh
  • Physical play – a climbing frame indoors: bikes, balls, hoops, trampoline, balancing boards
  • Writing table - emergent writing
  • Jigsaws, puzzles, games, threading beads
  • Outdoor play – we have our own enclosed garden for a variety of outdoor activities
  • Musical instruments and singing
  • Snack. We have a healthy eating policy and provide milk or water to drink
  • Activities to develop early maths, science and writing

More details about the playgroup

The Playgroup is your child’s first steps in early education. The same 3-5 year old curriculum is followed as in Nursery. Profiles are kept for each child and their development recorded. These are available for parents to read at any time and meetings are held with staff to discuss your child's development.
